Modifying Existing vs Creating New

There are two ways you can add content to IC-Wiki: by either creating new articles or by modifying existing ones.

Searching for Articles

If you want to write about something, it is recommended that you use the search feature on the left to see if an article already exists on the subject. If so, you can modify it by clicking the "edit" button on the top of the article page.

Creating a New Article

If no article exists, you will see a message to create it.

Click on the page title in this message and you will be taken to a page where you can start writing.

Linking and Referencing

It is encouraged to use [[ ]] to create links to other pages. It's sufficient to use a particular link once per page. For example, if I was writing a page about banking strategy, using [[Gold]] repeatedly would get messy. Once is good enough. :)

Examples

When linking to the page you are on, it will show as bold. For example, writing [[IC-Wiki:Contributing]] on this page itself will show as IC-Wiki:Contributing. This is good practice to do once in a page's introduction.

Linking to an existing page, like [[IC-Wiki]], will show as IC-Wiki.

Pages that don't yet exist will be shown as red links. Clicking on these red/empty links will take users to the editing page where they can start writing for the corresponding page.

Getting started

Most Wanted Pages

A list of most-linked pages that are still empty can be found at the Wanted Pages page. These pages should be prioritized so that players don't hit dead ends.

Recent Changes

By looking at the Recent Changes page, users can monitor any and every modification that takes place. From there they can easily add their own changes, compare different versions of articles, and even revert to older versions if they feel it necessary to do so. All versions of all articles are stored indefinitely, so even if a malicious user deletes an entire article, fixing it is as easy as reverting to an older version through this page.
