Food is needed to feed your Population and your Units, except Droids. It is also needed to build Mining Facilities and Exploration Ships.
Food can be produced by building Hydroponic Farms. Like other resources, it can also be bought from The Galactic Market and/or received as aid from Family members.
Food Decays at 0.5% per Turn. For example, if you have 10,000 food on hand, next turn you would only have 9950 (10,000 * .995).
